In the summer of 2017, Stowaway Gourmet made preparations for a backcountry adventure in Grand Teton National Park. While planning for their food, they looked at a lot of the freeze-dried and outdoor meals on the market. Most were laden with sodium and didn’t taste good.
With all the work and physical exertion that goes into an outbound adventure such as the one they were planning, they wanted to settle down at the end of a long day, surrounded by their loved ones and the awe inspiring vistas, and enjoy a delicious meal worthy of the experience. There were no such meals available commercially, so Stowaway Gourmet took the matter into their own hands.
Combining many years of commercial kitchen experience, and Stowaway Gourmet's culinary influences from nearly a decade of living and traveling abroad, they crafted their own gourmet freeze-dried food for the trip. They were a hit!
Since that time, Stowaway Gourmet spent over a year developing their recipes and refining their process so that you can enjoy our meals anywhere. Their food has been through many blind and field tests, and their meals are unrivaled for taste when compared to other freeze-dried foods.
